Reflection
During my time at my internship, I hoped that I would be able to use the skills I practiced with police and ex-military members. I hoped I could use my honed attention to detail and perception to assist officers and agents in their day to day duties. during my time at my internship I think the most important skill I learned was the ability to find commonalities between different themes, for instance, I followed a closed case with evidence given to me, I learned to connect the dots between themes and understand the little things. For me, I found myself with a lot of time that I needed to fill, even with all the fun stuff I was doing, I had trouble finding things to do that were productive. Thankfully I had some connections with SWAT officers here who could give me things to do that helped me with the "tactical" side of my internship. I think that especially now, I think that young eyes and ideas are necessary to give ideas to a law enforcement agencies. I think it is important for agents to have a fresh set of eyes to look for suspects or something they may have missed. For law enforcement agencies, it is hard for them to hold underage interns, because of all the liabilities that come with it. I got a lot of my next steps in my life based on the stories and recommendations of FBI agents and deputies, they helped me decide what steps I wanted to take next to be successful in my future career, like what I should study and what steps I should start taking now.
